At Oberloh Woodwind and Brass Works, honesty and integrity are of paramount importance. There are too many people trying to sell instruments and services on the internet that are, to be polite, less than completely honest about what they have to offer. All the instruments we offer are in the condition they are described herein. All instruments are also backed by at least a one year warranty, please ask about the warranty when you inquire about a specific instrument. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING OVERHAULS - Due to our backlog of major projects, we are holding off on accepting the more involved jobs such as tuba rebuilds until we manage to get a good leg up on what we currently have on the bench (late next year (2012)). In most cases, we are allowing those who are interested in such work to reserve time for scheduling future projects. If you have already made arrangements with us, we will gladly honor that obligation. Yes, we are still taking in standard repairs, repads and maintenance as needed and you can expect our normal quick turn around on these jobs. We just happen to be backed up with major restorations and complete overhauls.
As you browse through our website, you'll notice that many of the instruments we have listed sale are noted as having been "completely overhauled". For your convenience, we have listed what this includes below. Rest assured that ALL the work performed on instruments here is done at the highest level of quality and attention to detail to insure that the instrument will play wonderfully for years to come.
Instrument is completely disassembled
Old finish is removed completely
All dents are removed
Instrument is buffed to a high luster (This does NOT mean that the instrument is polished too much - we will replace parts rather than buff the metal so much that it weakens!)
Scratches are removed
After a thorough degreasing, the instrument is relacquered or silver plated
All new pads, corks and felts are installed (woodwinds)
If valves are not adequate after cleaning, they are rebuilt (brass)
Instrument is thoroughly adjusted and regulated to exacting standards
Each instrument is play tested
The same work is done on the instrument as in a Complete Overhaul, except the removal of minor scratches and dents is not emphasized. This allows for significant savings!
Again, the same work is done on the instrument as in a Complete Overhaul, except the instrument started out in good physical condition. This means the horn only required minor dent work, a thorough cleaning, and the replacement of pads, corks, felts, etc.
If the instrument's case is not adequate to protect the instrument from damage, it is replaced.
